1. At a certain time in a deer park, the number of heads and the number of legs of deer and human visitors were counted and it was found there were 39 heads & 132 legs. Find the number of deer and human visitors in the park.

Ans: No. of deers = 27 and No. of humans = 12

Solution:

Let the no. of deers be x And no. of humans be y

x + y = 39 (1) 4 x + 2 y = 132 - (2)

Multiply (1) and (2) On solving, we get … x = 27 and y= 12 No. of deers = 27 and No. of humans = 12

2. Find the sum of all 3 digit numbers which leave remainder 3 when divided by 5.

Ans: 99090

Solution : 103, 108……….998 a + (n-1)d = 998 103 + (n-1)5 = 998 n = 180

Let x be the sum of 180 terms

x = 180 + [(103 + 998)/2]

= 90×1101

= 99090
